Our welding company, located in Leamington, Ontario, is called upon to help with manufacturing for many industries. We take great pride in helping you make your workplace or project safer, more efficient, easier and faster.

What is welding?

Welding is a sculpting process or time tested fabrication of materials, (ordinarily metal) using high temperatures to fuse and melt parts together. Occasionally, you can apply pressure to produce a weld exclusively or to help in the welding process.

Welding makes use of new metals, gasses, or heat to bind the metal pieces into one.
When welding, a filler material must be used. As the name suggests, it functions by providing new material or filler, which facilitates the process of linking the metal parts together. Most welders use shields to protect the filler and main components from oxidation as they weld.

Types of Welding

There are various welding types. Here are the most common:

1. MIG Welding

MIG welding, also known as Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) is among the easiest types of welding. There are two types of MIG welding: using flux core and using bare wire. Flux core MIG welding is mostly used outdoors as it does not need gas supply or meter flow.
Bare MIG welding is popular when joining thin metal pieces together. Since MIG welding does not require any equipment for the welding service, Hobby welders and DIY enthusiasts opt for this type of welding since they do not need to visit a welding shop.

2. TIG welding

One of the most challenging welding techniques is TIG welding. This type of welding requires skilled personnel from the right welding company in Windsor. During TIG welding, two hands are needed. One hand holds the TIG torch as the other feeds the rod.
The torch creates the arc and heat, which help by welding the most conventional metals like titanium, cobalt, copper alloys, nickel alloys, steel, and aluminum. All these metals can be found in any welding shop in Leamington. This type of welding is also known as Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW).

3. Gas Tungsten-Arc Welding

Since it has been replaced by TIG welding, gas welding is rarely used. It has a welding kit that is easy to carry and requires acetylene and oxygen. Sometimes, they are used for welding the exhaust bits of automobiles together.

Which type of welding is the strongest?

The best welding varies depending on the base material and the expected outcome. All welding techniques, from Plasma Arc Welding to TIG, have their disadvantages and advantages.

If you want to determine the most reliable welding type based on the thickness of the material to be welded and its pure strength, stick welding would be the winner. It is because stick welding is the only technique able to weld cast iron. Also, the method works on both harsh weather conditions and dirty materials.

However, this does not mean stick welding is the strongest type of welding. There are instances where it would not win. MIG is the strongest if you are welding metals of different thicknesses, while TIG is the strongest if you want to produce high-quality welds.

The most robust welding technique also depends on the metal you want to weld. Aluminum, for instance, cannot cope with too much heat since it is too soft. When choosing a technique for welding aluminum, you can pick TIG or MIG. TIG is the best of the two.

Welding is a necessity in most industrial processes. If you take a glimpse outside, you will see a welded object. Since there are varieties of welding technologies available today, it can be complicated for novices in the welding industry to choose the ideal welding technology. Before carrying out any welding operations, it would be advisable to consult experienced personnel from any welding expert organisation for appropriate guidance.
